Those look NICE!! I always wondered what a tele with Filtertrons would sound like...

mazurap- 10-10-2007

Thanks for your kind comments. The '69 is featured on some overdubs i did on www.myspace.com/andymazur Running straight into an old '64 Bassman in a 2x10 combo body rebiased for 6V6's but running single ended in this case. There was a CE1 used on the last track. I'm working on something for the '72. Hope it gives you an idea anyway

Hey Mazurap - sounds great! Are you using combination of the pickups or just strictly the PowerTron? I'd also love to hear your Strat with the MagnaTron. Do you have any clips of that?

mazurap- 10-16-2007

hi there Mr.Lou! referring to the 4 tracks on myspace the pickups on the guitar illustrated are a TV Classic in the bridge and a tonerider hot classic in the neck. track1 is neck to 1:45 and then bridge for the rest of the track. track2 is neck and bridge to 2:30 and then bridge. track3 is all unadulterated TV Classic in the bridge. track4 is neck and bridge to 1:58 - bridge to 3:35 - n&b to end the Strat with the magnetron you refer to is this it is an old early 80's strat contempory with a Catswhisker 5 tap tele style pup in the bridge and now a magnetron in the neck with so much spank and snap.....unfortunately no sound bites yet of the magnetron - just tap 3 of the bridge pup 10.59k / 3.56h flat out for harmonics and solo in track2 the white '72 thinline has powertrons in the bridge and neck. no sound bites yet.....................

MAZURAP, I have a '72 thinline and was thinking of installing my English mount Classics on it. Is your pickguard a standard '72 size or did you have it custom made to fit the Filtertrons on it. I see you used the Gretsch style pickups surrounds. Did they fit in the original holes from the Wide Range 'Buckers? I've been trying to figure out how to install these without spending a lot of $$$ on a custom made pickguard. How did you do it?

mazurap- 01-04-2008

Hi there Teleboy! I used a scratchplate with humbucker sized apertures and single height adjuster screwholes. This is important as the English Mounts are meant to fit into humbucker apertures. I bought from this supplier in the uk. http://www.axesrus.com/axeplates.htm item is 16 up from the bottom. This option however i think would be quite expensive for you. I have however used this guy in the US when i wanted a '69 thinline scratch plate done without the cutout for the bridge plate. His name is Al Inteso - http://www.aiguitars.com/ He also has a shop on ebay - The Guitar Parts Centre - You can specify what you want and they do it for you. They are very reasonably priced and the finished product was excellent http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-3-PLY-72-TELE-THINLINE-PICKGUARD_W0QQitemZ320158559939QQihZ011QQcategoryZ41424QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem Hope this helps..........

MAZURAP, thanks for the quick reply and info. I've been scratchin' my head trying to figure out how to modify my original pickguard. That makes sence to me now. Thanks again.

mazurap- 01-04-2008

Hi Teleboy! You're welcome. Might i also suggest that you leave your original scratchplate as it is. You can then copy the wiring and wire up your new pickguard. Make sure you use CTS 500k audio pots and cloth covered wire.It makes the job much easier. You might also want to add a treble bleed (mentioned elsewhere on this forum) This way you can save your original stock pickguard in case you ever want to sell the guitar. Here is a simple treble bleed i use that works 0-9 on the volume and the tone dialed to 10.Back off the tone to 8 and you dial out the treble bleed. Volume taper remains the same. click on thumbnail for large image Regards Mazurap

That '72 looks outstanding! Makes me wish mine wouldn't have gotten nicked. :(
