English mount TONE
Hey everyone, new favorite forum! Just thinking out loud here, but would there be any tonal difference between a classic that was mounted in the conventional way, screwed to the bracing than the english mount? Which is essentially floating, or at least buffered from the body by the pickup rings plastic? I have an '06 falcon that inadvertently had powertrons installed in the english mount fashion (before TV Jones sold them) and whilst I really love the sound, I cant help but feel that the tone seems somewhat disconnected :S. I hope someone can grasp what I'm saying here...apologies in advance if it's just mindless waffle. 2am here in Australia haha. any insights would be great! Take it easy ya'll!

I think any differences would be very minimal.

Very slight change in tone. Maybe the difference you hear is in the hotter Power'tron (5K DCR). The English mount will not fit in a stock professional Gretsch with parallel braces. The adjustment feet would get in the way of the parallel braces. They are shaped like the feet on the back plate of a Gibson humbucker. Thanks, TV Jones
