Filtertron attack
Hi I recently have had the use of a Chinese made Electromatic. It's basically a Duo Jett, but has what Gretsch call 'Mini humbuckers'. To my ear they have the sound of a Filtertron. Hey this guitar was immaculate and set-up like no other guitar I have seen that was not a custom shop model.. it was FLAWLESS in every way. It sounded sweet and played like a charm. Anyway, not having played a Gretsch at home through my gear before, (I am mainly into recording.. not live gigging) I couldn't help but notice that the pickups had a VERY accute attack.. it sounded like you have played the note just as you are making the change. I liked this. A lot I then played my Strat and my LesPaul... Yep the initial attack of the plucked note was not as 'fast' as the Gretsch. Am I imagining this or is it a known filtertron trait?

The initial attack is stronger with my Filter'Trons than it is with my Les Pauls or my Strats.......although with the Strats it's very very close. 8)
