Filtertron attack Hi
I recently have had the use of a Chinese made Electromatic.
It's basically a Duo Jett, but has what Gretsch call 'Mini humbuckers'.
To my ear they have the sound of a Filtertron.
Hey this guitar was immaculate and set-up like no other guitar I have seen that was not a custom shop model.. it was FLAWLESS in every way.
It sounded sweet and played like a charm.
Anyway, not having played a Gretsch at home through my gear before, (I am mainly into recording.. not live gigging) I couldn't help but notice that the pickups had a VERY accute attack.. it sounded like you have played the note just as you are making the change. I liked this. A lot
I then played my Strat and my LesPaul... Yep the initial attack of the plucked note was not as 'fast' as the Gretsch.
Am I imagining this or is it a known filtertron trait?

The initial attack is stronger with my Filter'Trons than it is with my Les Pauls or my Strats.......although with the Strats it's very very close. 8)

this can also be the guitar. many newer gibsons have a slow attack
