Gretsch use of TV jones????
Now that gretsch is using TV Jones pickups in their guitars at high volume, i have to ask if they are producing the pickups themselves at TV Jones specifications or, are they ordering pickups from TV jones and installing them? Thanks Mike

Is this just a dumb question or does no one really know? It's driving me nuts..hahaha

I'm sure they'd order them, but I don't know the answer.

I don't know the answer either, but I have a very strong suspicion that Gretsch doesn't have the capabilities built-in to their pick-up manufacturing facilities to reproduce the Classics to TVJ standards.

All Gretsch guitars that include TV Jones pickups are made with pickups ordered from us and made in Poulsbo, Washington with our own tooling and all American made parts. Gretsch orders them from us and installs these pickups into the guitars. If it says "TV Jones Designed" that means it is a pickup I designed the look of, but is manufactured in Japan. Any time you see the term "TV JonesĀ® Classic pickups" those are pickups made in our shop. We produce the Classic, Classic Plus, Power'Tron, Power'Tron Plus, TV-HT, Super'Tron, Magna'Tron and Thunder'Tron here. http://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/ has a comprehensive listing of their guitar models and which pickups are used. I hope this helps. Thanks, TV Jones

I have a 99 Hot Rod with the TV Jones 'designed' Filter Trons. They sound very good! I liked them much better than my stock Setzer Signature with the ceramic Filter Trons. I changed those out to TV Jones after reading a lot about them on the Gretsch pages. Loved em! (I unfortunately sold that guitar). You can really tell the difference when you bring up the volume. The TV Jones are in a class all their own. I think I'm going to take advantage of the sale and get a set of TV Jones classics. But, I may want to try the PLUS in the bridge position. I play into a RE-201 into a '67 Fender Super Reverb and the bridge can get VERY bright with that set up. So much so that I rarely use it. I'm wondering if the Plus would balance out some of that brightness? Anyone have any experience or suggestions one way or the other? Johnny
