How's the Classic Plus for old school 'billy?? Hello everyone. I'll be ordering a set of Classics for my '03 6120-60 soon.
Weighing my options, and I'm sort of leaning towards a Plus in the bridge.
I play stuff in the Horton Heat realm, but I'll soon be playing with some cats doing old school obscure 50's stuff. I'm wondering if the Plus is going to be a bit much for this type of music, and if I should just go with the Classics all the way.
Any thoughts??
Thanks guys!

Well, went ahead and took the plunge.
Ordered a classic neck and classic plus for the bridge.
Figured if the bridge didn't work out, I could always trade for a classic.
Went with nickel with the pat#. Figured that would give my '60 a nice vintage look. Some of the gold plating is coming off of the knobs and such, so they should look right at home.

Got my pickups in today!
Man these thinks just exude quality.
Probably won't get them in my Gretsch until next week unfortunately.
I'm really wanting to record some stuff with the High Sensitive Filtertrons in and then A/B them with the TV Jones pups.

Good idea to record before and after....
In fact I borrowed an electromatic Jet pro from a store overnight.
Recorded it... loved it.... but thought "maybe I don't need it"
And listening back to the recording three months later.... with all visual and emotional ties long gone... I realized how GREAT it sounded so I went and bought one!
Also I had stock P-90's in my Goldtop... changed them out for Seymour Duncan Antiquity's.... I really like the AntQ's but they are different to the stock ones... wish I had recorded a comparison before and after... but I didn't
I'm also intersted to know how tyou find teh Classic Plus, as I want to get classic/classic combo
I know they say that the clasic plus will give you more of a Malcom Young sound... but Malcom young wouldn't have had access to a Classic plus...
His would have been just stock Filtertrons...
I also like Neil Young and Stephen Stills recordings made with Gretsches equipped with stock filtertrons... So I'm probably going to go with the classics
But I'd love to hear your opinion on the Classic plus... might bend my way of thinking a bit?
