Installed my TV Classics (and +) this weekend Finally got around to installing my pickups. I've had them for about 2 weeks, but work's been preempting my plans unfortunately.
Anyhow....took me about an hour to replace the pickups. Took me a little while to figure out how to fish the pots out of the f-hole, but I eventually got it. Used aqaurium tubing to get the pots back into their holes, and that was that.
I ended up getting a Classic Plus for the bridge position, and boy I'm glad I did. The Plus has a LOT of spank on tap. If you play close to the bridge, you can a really great meaty twang. It's a bit more than you get from a regular Classic. I compared the Classic Plus to my friends 6120 with regular Classics in the bridge, and definately noticed the difference. The lower strings seemed to have more "body" to them, and while the Classic Plus has more midrange, they still sparkle like the regular Classics.
I'd like to point out that the regular High Sensitive Filtertrons are really excellent pickups, but the correct dimensions, and spacing of the bridge pickups really make the Classics shine. The HS Filtertrons are like 10 year old Scotch, while the TV's are 30 year old SMOOOOOOOOOTH Scotch.
I'm glad I got the nickle covers on my pickups. The contrast between the gold pickup rings and the pickup cases looks great.
I'm going to try to post some clips soon, so stay tuned!
Thanks TV....these pickups are the real deal!
