magnatron for a powertron
Hey All, I was wondering if anyone out there might want to trade. I have a Magnatron in the neck of my 6120 but I think I want a Powertron there instead. Anyone want to trade? My Magna has the silver covers BTW. Jason

Why the switch? I'm not challenging, I'm just curious. I've been interested in a Magnatron neck now for a while, and I'd love to hear the pros/cons in your book. Thanks dude!

The Magnatron is a great pickup don't get me wrong. I just play a lot of jazz and it's not quite what I'm looking for. It's nice and clear which I like but maybe just a little too much so for jazz. For country or rockabilly this thing would kill, just not what I'm doing these days. Does anyone here have any experience playing jazz with a Filtertron or Powertron?

Got it. Makes sense. I might try the Supertron for Jazz, since you probably don't need the power (for lack of a better word) of the Powertron, and Setzer gets beautiful semi-Jazz tone here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgUCs72RDHs Lots more mids than the Magnatron, at least in my opinion.

I recommend the Super'tron for a warm, but clear jazz tone. The blades add more inductance. More inductance warmer tone and a little more output. Thanks, TV Jones
