new tv supertrons look wrong
i was interested to see the new tvjones supertrons. my uncle owns an old (mid/late sixties not exactly sure) Gretsch streamliner. Looks kinda like a 335 but a little smaller. It has the original pups which are supertrons, with one pretty major difference; instead of bar magnets, they are laminated blades. in other words, instead of a solid bar, it is made up of about six very thin strips pressed together. as if you took the bar from a tvjones pup and were to fillet it paper thin, longwise. like six razor baldes stuck side by side. anyone ever seen these before. they sound incredible by the way. soon as unc kicks the bucket, they are goin right in my 6120. Sorry Unc!

Tv's supertrons are not supposed to be exact clones of the originals I believe

The laminated blade Super'tron has more spike in the treble. Almost too much. They also used ceramic magnets form time to time. The solid bar Super'tron was produced before the laminated version. I prefer the warmer sounding solid blade Super'tron. Chet Atkins used the solid blade version, in the neck, along with a Filter'tron wound with thinner wire in the bridge position. Thanks, TV Jones 4-7-08

man, this thing rocks. i cant say it enough. I LOVE this forum. I am treble freak, probably why like the old ones in the streamliner so much. How does the bar magnet affect p-up output? I have heard that output is greater, this true? Also could a person order any tvjones pick-up with the bar magnet? I would kill for classic plus with the bar magnets.

there were two kinds of supertrons, the bar type( w/alcono magnets) like t.v.'s and supertron 2's w/the thin strips type like in the late 60's& found on my 60's duo jet witch as tv pointed out were ceramic very mean sounding, great for rough& tumble rock& roll ...........
