Pickup recommendation for a TK300
I bought a 1978 TK300 not long ago and am considering changing the pickups in it. I love everything about the guitar except those generic humbuckers, which don't quite have as "Gretschey" a sound as I'd prefer and are actually very dark (kinda surprising given the guitar is all maple) and somewhat muddy. It serves as a backup to my `61 Corvette with a Powertron (which sounds fantastic!)...so I want something at least close in sound...and it seems like perhaps a Magnatron would be best. Any advice on this? I'm thinking of pulling the original guard/pups and electrics, setting them aside and having a new guard cut with just a bridge pup.... Thanks...
