Powertron Plus?? I've been using my 6120 exclusively for the last 6 months loaded with TV Classics. I play thru a Marshall JMP.
I'm changing up the wiring in my Gretsch so I borrowed a 335 from a friend. As soon as I got to the gig Friday and hit the first chord I was in shock!!!! While the TV Classics sound great I've been struggling a little to get the right tone going on and thought it was the amp, but now I realize that I need more of a Gibson PAF sound.
I love my Gretsch but realize now that I need the higher output and sharper attack of a goof Gibson PAF. The TV Classics are great but they just aren't right for my current gig.
Will the Powertron or Powertron Plus get me into Gibson territory? For reference the pickups in the 335 are Duncan 59's.
Thanks for any help guys

Hi Laroosco,
I recently put a Power'tron and Power'Tron Plus in the neck and bridge of my Electromatic respectivley, and although i wouldnt say it was 'Gibson Territory' the output was very much like a PAF Humbucker (just like advertised!).
I'd say a good deal of the Gibson tone comes from the fact that the 335 has a solid core (and its younger brother Les Paul is a solid block of mahogany), hence giving it its trademark Gibson sustane etc.

I figured that the solid core had an effect on the tone and realize that I can't get the 2 guitars to sound the same but if the P'tron + will hit my amp more like a PAF than I think I'll be happy.
The Classics are still just too much in single coil territory for me.
Thanks
