suggestions for telegretsch
Hi I want to build a telegretsch with 2 magnatrons. I want to use a thinline warmoth or USACG body and neck. I'm thinking maple/ebony 25.5" neck and a maple/alder body. Do you think this will work or do you suggest something else? Do I need a 12" radius neck (because of the magnatrons)? I want both a bigsby and a tele bridge with 3 saddles

I have the same project in mind, except I've been considering a warmoth tele mahogany+ebony neck & hollow contoured mahogany body with a maple top, coupled with powertrons or magnatrons in a dynasonic mount ('cause it looks cool:)). A bit like this telesonic here. A question about the bigsby; since all the tele-compatible bigsby sets (as far as I know) are for single coils, what was your plan in getting the three-piece saddle to work the bigsby? Are you going to carve a bigger slot for the pickup in a tele bridge? Personally I was thinking of a tune-o-matic + bigsby -combination.

I'm not going to use a tele bigsby (the B16). I plan to use the same bigsby that's used with tuneomatic teles (the B5). I will buy a normal tele bridge w 3 piece saddle and mod it so that a filtertron size pup fits. A drill and a file should work, I suppose. I think I will need to get a lightly angeled neck pocket in order to get the right string pressure over the 3 piece bridge. How do you plan to do the pickup routing? warmoth does not do dynasonic or filtertron routing

How do you plan to do the pickup routing? warmoth does not do dynasonic or filtertron routing Well, they *do* say this: "If you don't see what you want, ask. We can probably do that too." http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/options/options_guitar_pickups_routing.cfm So I'm going to -*test*-('") their claim :). However, if the answer is "no can do", I'll just leave the body blank without holes and chisel them myself, or alternatively use humbucker holes with an alternative mounting (which would suck, because dynas' look the best). Anyway, I'll probably have to do some wood chipping anyway, since I'm going to have a pretty non-standard wiring of: - Balance pot instead of a pickup switch (where the telesonic switch is) - A tone/volume pot bypass switch (at the upper cutaway side) - volume pot (near the normal location, but rear routed) - tone pot (near the normal location, but rear routed) I have this configuration on my modded ESP 400 tele, and I love it!

warmoth won't do filtertron routing - I've asked them several times. we should keep bugging them until the do it. USACG does filtertron routing, but I don't think they do dynasonic routing. you can ask them

warmoth won't do filtertron routing - I've asked them several times. we should keep bugging them until the do it. - Bummer. I sent them an inquiry just to hopefully start them considering the option. It's not like it's a big modification. USACG does filtertron routing, but I don't think they do dynasonic routing. you can ask them - I will, thanks! If Warmoth doesn't support Gretsch, nice to know there's other options as well.
