Tele Bridge mounting / treble bypass
1. In the TV-Tele Bridge video, you mentioned that you installed a treble bypass. Can you give me more details on that? (What it consists of, how it was installed, etc.) 2. How much routing of the body was involved to install the TV Classic in the bridge? 3. What is the advantage of swapping out the 250k pots with 500k on a tele? Thanks!

1. In the TV-Tele Bridge video, you mentioned that you installed a treble bypass. Can you give me more details on that? (What it consists of, how it was installed, etc.) I installed a .001 mf capacitor and a 150K resistor, in parallel, on a 500K taper pot. (the 3rd lug is the one grounded to the back of the pot). We will post a new video explaining this procedure soon. 2. How much routing of the body was involved to install the TV Classic in the bridge? I routed a small cavity, the shape of the Filter'tron housing, about 3/4" deep. I used a no ears TV Classic mounted with compression under the pickup. We now offer router templates to help make the job easy. 3. What is the advantage of swapping out the 250k pots with 500k on a tele? A 250K pot sounds darker than a 500K. You will want to use 500K with all of our pickups. Thanks, TV Jones Thanks!

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions regarding TV'Tele modds... Not so long ago, I built a custom Tele with a TV Classic in the bridge position and a treble bypass circuit - a fantastic guitar! ( forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=20#20" target="_blank">http://tvjones.19.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=20#20 ) But... there's another project coming :) so here we go: This is the instrument I'm talking about: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-American-Series-FSR-Chambered-Mahogany-Telecaster-Electric-Guitar?sku=514129 - Fender American Series FSR Chambered Mahogany Telecaster. (My understanding is that it's a slightly customized version of this: http://www.fender.com/products/view_specs.php?full_partno=0118400&name=American+Telecaster%26reg%3B - American Series Telecaster ) The model uses (quote) "Delta Tone" system which includes high output bridge pickup and special No-Load tone control) " First of all, I don't think I like how the stock bridge pup sounds (is that just me?)... And I don't really dig that "no-load" position. Sounds kind of harsh and/but with not much of that famous tele twang. I do like the neck pickup though. If I decide to replace the bridge pup with a TV Classic (or TV Classic Plus) would you recommend that I keep the Delta tone thing or should I replace it also? Another question, sorry if it's a stupid one: could anybody recommend a regular sized Tele bridge pup sounding as close as possible to the TV Classic? Do they exist at all? :) I'm not completely sure if I should modd this particular instrument that heavily... Also, I was wondering if anybody noticed any sonic difference between a regular TV Classic and the same pup in TV'tron mount? The last question: could you please suggest a technique for routing a pickup cavity for those who don't own the necessary professional equipment (I do have some general tech skills though). Is there a "routing for dummies" way? :) I'm trying to built/modd that, you know, "perfect" guitar to record a long-coming album in another country with my band next summer... So... kind of a serious matter to me... The TV-TELE I already have is really good but for a number of reasons it only has one pup and I will need a bit more versatility... Any info and advice are highly appreciated! Thanks a lot! - A. PS 1. ... We will post a new video explaining this procedure soon ... 2... We now offer router templates to help make the job easy. 1. Please don't forget :) 2. Do they come with the TV Bridges now? How do I get one? Thanks!

A quick Photoshop illustration to my previous post, this is what I'm thinking about: What do you guys think? Is it worth it? What Tele neck p/up would you recommend with a TV Classic in the bridge? I'm afraid the stock neck pickup is not hot enough to match a Filtertron.. I love the vintage neck pickup Tele sound. Thanks!

I just did my first non-plug-and-play mod with a tele last weekend. The biggest mod was routing the guitar to fit a PAF size humbucker. I'd never done anything like this before.... I purchased a Dremel and used a "cutter" bit to do the routing (oddly enough it was better at the job than the router bit)... but anyways, it was a LOT easier than I thought and was very satisfying. It turned out to be a nice and clean job. it went so well that I purchased another tele body on ebay last night and am gonna outfit the new one with TV Jones PUPs... thats why im here now. :) in my experience its pretty easy... just take your time and you'll be all good -arin
