TV HiloTron and Enlgish Mount In Gretsch 5120
Tom, hey this message board is a great idea that you have here. By the way, when you still lived in Whittier you did a TV Jones guitar workshop at Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks, maybe five years ago and I was there. I enjoyed your work shop very much. I can't even recall if I brought my guitar, I don't think I did but I showed up just to learn stuff. It's the workshop where that guy had the Gretsch that he put a decal on it that said "FOAH". That was not me but I was at that work shop. I won't repeat what "FOAH" means tho. I love HiloTrons. I was thinking of getting one day a Tennesse Rose 6119 HT but for cost effectiveness I might get the Gretsch 5120 Electromatic guitar and install some HiloTrons. I know in some ways they are different animals so to speak because I think the Tenn is thinner and of course it's a closed top guitar but I was at Guitar Center and I saw this vintage Double Annie with Hilos and the finish was black. I'm not a big fan of black finished guitars but it looked great and thought I can get a 5120 in black and add TV HiloTrons. Question is will the English mount work with the HiloTrons? I saw from your chart that the English mount works with the 5120s but will the Hilos work with the English mount? I figure they would since FilterTrons and HiloTrons look to be the same size but I heard that they are different depths or something is slightly different. Please confirm whether or not HiloTrons by TV Jones will work with the English mount and the 5120. Thank You, James
